Part A: In order Multiply. Look for the pattern as you go.

  1. 1 × 1 = 1
  2. 1 × 2 = 2
  3. 1 × 3 = 3
  4. 1 × 4 = 4
  5. 1 × 5 = 5
  6. 1 × 6 = 6
  7. 1 × 7 = 7
  8. 1 × 8 = 8
  9. 1 × 9 = 9
  10. 1 × 10 = 10
  11. 1 × 11 = 11
  12. 1 × 12 = 12

Part B: Mixed up Multiply. The facts are out of order and some are flipped.

  1. 1 × 9 = 9
  2. 1 × 4 = 4
  3. 1 × 7 = 7
  4. 1 × 5 = 5
  5. 3 × 1 = 3
  6. 8 × 1 = 8
  7. 4 × 1 = 4
  8. 1 × 12 = 12
  9. 1 × 0 = 0
  10. 1 × 1 = 1
  11. 11 × 1 = 11
  12. 0 × 1 = 0

Part C: Missing factor Write the number that makes each fact true.

  1. 1 × 12 = 12
  2. 1 × 8 = 8
  3. 1 × 7 = 7
  4. 1 × 10 = 10
  5. 1 × 3 = 3
  6. 1 × 9 = 9

Tips for teachers and parents

  • Name the rule before starting: any number times 1 is that same number. Students who can say the rule out loud make very few errors on this sheet.
  • Use this sheet to teach the layout as much as the facts. Point out Part A (in order), Part B (mixed and flipped) and Part C (missing factor) so the harder tables feel familiar.
  • In Part B, ask why 9 × 1 and 1 × 9 give the same answer. This is the turnaround idea that halves the work on every later table.
  • A problem with 0 may appear in Part B. Use it to compare the two rules: times 1 keeps the number, times 0 makes zero.

Common mistakes

  • Adding 1 instead of multiplying, so 7 × 1 becomes 8. Have the student read the problem as "7 groups of 1" and count the groups.
  • Mixing up the rules for 1 and 0. Ask the student to circle any problem with a 0 before starting and do those last.

What to practice next

Move on to the 2 times table, which turns doubling into multiplication. Students who are comfortable here often do the 10 times table next.

Frequently asked questions

Why practice the 1 times table if it is so easy?

It teaches the identity property, which students use again with fractions and algebra. It also gives a quick win that builds confidence with the worksheet format.

What grade learns the 1 times table?

Most students meet it in grade 2 or early grade 3, when multiplication is introduced as equal groups.

Is there an answer key?

Yes. Page 2 of the PDF is the full answer key for all 30 problems.
