Part A: In order Divide. Think of the matching multiplication fact.

  1. 7 ÷ 7 = 1
  2. 14 ÷ 7 = 2
  3. 21 ÷ 7 = 3
  4. 28 ÷ 7 = 4
  5. 35 ÷ 7 = 5
  6. 42 ÷ 7 = 6
  7. 49 ÷ 7 = 7
  8. 56 ÷ 7 = 8
  9. 63 ÷ 7 = 9
  10. 70 ÷ 7 = 10
  11. 77 ÷ 7 = 11
  12. 84 ÷ 7 = 12

Part B: Mixed up Divide.

  1. 70 ÷ 7 = 10
  2. 28 ÷ 7 = 4
  3. 21 ÷ 7 = 3
  4. 35 ÷ 7 = 5
  5. 7 ÷ 7 = 1
  6. 84 ÷ 7 = 12
  7. 56 ÷ 7 = 8
  8. 0 ÷ 7 = 0
  9. 49 ÷ 7 = 7
  10. 63 ÷ 7 = 9
  11. 42 ÷ 7 = 6
  12. 14 ÷ 7 = 2

Part C: Missing number Write the number that makes each fact true.

  1. 28 ÷ 7 = 4
  2. 14 ÷ 7 = 2
  3. 49 ÷ 7 = 7
  4. 77 ÷ 7 = 11
  5. 84 ÷ 7 = 12
  6. 35 ÷ 7 = 5

Tips for teachers and parents

  • Ask "7 times what is this number?" 63 ÷ 7 is 9 because 7 × 9 = 63.
  • Use facts the student already knows from other tables. 7 × 4 = 28 is the same as 4 × 7, so 28 ÷ 7 = 4 comes from the 4s.
  • Remember 56 ÷ 7 = 8 with the counting order 5, 6, 7, 8.
  • Practice Part A twice before attempting Part B. The in-order list lets the student build the facts one step at a time.

Common mistakes

  • Answering 49 ÷ 7 = 6 or 56 ÷ 7 = 7. Multiply back to check: 7 × 7 is 49, and 7 × 8 is 56.
  • Mixing up 42 ÷ 7 = 6 and 42 ÷ 6 = 7. Say the whole fact family together: 6 × 7, 7 × 6, 42 ÷ 6 and 42 ÷ 7.

What to practice next

Move on to dividing by 8 and 9, then the mixed review of all division facts.

Frequently asked questions

Is there a trick for dividing by 7?

Not a pattern trick like the 5s or 9s. The fastest method is knowing the 7 times table and turning each problem into a multiplication question.

Which grade learns divide by 7?

Grade 3. By the end of the year students are expected to know division facts for all one-digit divisors.

Can I use this for homework?

Yes. Print page 1 for the student and keep page 2, the answer key.
